London's dominant modern skyline

When flying along the River Thames through London, marvel at some of the spectacular modern architecture now adorning our Capital.

The London Eye adjoins the Thames on the South Bank directly opposite the Houses of Parliament. Built and erected in March 2000 and standing at 450 feet tall, it is London's fifth tallest building. Each rotation of the wheel takes 30-minutes, thus moving at a massive 26cm per second or 0.6mph. Not for those who are looking a speed fix! The London Eye has 32 capsules holding a maximum of 800 persons, the equivalent of eleven London red double decker buses!

The Shard, adjacent to Tower Bridge on the South Bank, will be the tallest building in Western Europe standing at some 1,016 feet. Equipped with offices, world renowned restaurants, the 5-Star Shangri-la Hotel, exclusive residential apartments and London's highest viewing platform offering 360° views it is truly a remarkable site and completely transforming the London skyline.

The Gherkin, more appropriately known as 30 St Mary Axe. The Gherkin name has been adopted by the public due to the striking design of this imposing building within the City of London. Completely dominating the skyline of the City ( the Financial District ), the Gherkin is one of the highlights of the London helicopter tour.

Canary Wharf

The Canary Wharf complex located on the Isle of Dogs dominates the East End of London's skyline. Until recently Canary Wharf was Europe's tallest building, now superseded by the Shard.

The entire Canary Wharf site now includes 35 buildings, including high rise office complexes, three shopping malls, including 200 shops, and houses some 95,000 people in a diverse range of functions and activities.

The O2 Arena stands on the South bank of the Thames near to the Thames Barrier at Greenwich. Originally built by the Government ( and named the 'Millennium Dome )to celebrate the turn of a new millennium, it has since been bought privately and transformed into one of the World's most unique entertainment venues. The O2 Arena is a truly remarkable structure of unique design completely revitalizing a site which was home to hazardous waste! The O2 Arena complex has been further enhanced with hotels, restaurants, cinemas and auditorium.

Helicopter Days - you'll be amazed

When it comes to unforgettable experiences, a ride in a helicopter has to rate pretty high on the list. To combine this with the aerial views of London just adds that extra WOW factor to your experience. Flying along the Thames at over 100mph and at 1500 feet gives you a unique perspective of our capital city.

Flying from Redhill Aerodrome, junction 8 of the M25, we are ideally situated for easy access in and out of the London Heathrow control zone, thus maximising your helicopter flight time over the City. Be it a gift, treat or surprise, we're able to provide vouchers to suit any occasion.

Something else in mind? We're happy for you to create your own personal charter day with our pilots taking you wherever you want to go. For sporting occasions, events, or just for getting from A to B in style, please get in touch and we'll see how we can help.

About us

As you might have guessed already, we're a touch different to the usual ‘experience days’ operators. We’re not an agency that takes your money and then books the day with another helicopter company. We take the booking, we provide the pilots, we utilize our own fleet and we do the flying.

As such, you’ve got the reassurance that any experience you book through Helicopter Days will be taken with a company that's got over 10 years of experience in the field.

Sorry!

Due to restricted air space for the Olympics this summer we will not be flying our London Helicopter Tours between 14th July and 12th September 2012.

Important Note!

As of the 31st December 2011 Damyn's Hall Aerodrome in East London has suspended all future London Helicopter Tour Activity. All London Helicopter Tours will now take place from Redhill Aerodrome in Surrey.

Apologies for any inconvenience but this is outside of our control.
